Nigerian artist OVIEL has released a new EP titled “Masterpiece”, a project that gives new life to his early songs while capturing his growth and artistic evolution. The five-track collection brings together works that first appeared under his former names Ray’Em and Rae’Em, now reengineered for a new audience.

The project opens with his most recent release, *Shine*, an uplifting track about perseverance and self-belief that represents the culmination of everything that came before. *Reverso*, originally released as Ray’Em, follows as a reflective and poetic Afro Hip-Hop record exploring cycles, self-awareness, and the lessons found in life’s mirrored experiences. *Killer (Mama Roll)*, first shared under the name Rae’Em, returns with renewed energy. It remains one of OVIEL’s most infectious dance tracks. A song that blended Nigerian Afrobeats with South African House influences long before the Amapiano wave fully took shape.

Next is *Jason*, another standout from the Ray’Em era. Its cinematic tone and confident delivery remind listeners of the ambition and pioneering flair that has always driven OVIEL’s sound. Each song has been carefully reworked to retain its original emotion while showcasing a richer, more refined sonic quality.

The EP closes with *Masterpiece*, a spoken monologue that reflects on the meaning of a masterpiece, not as something flawless but as the honest result of growth, struggle, and discovery. It’s a moment of reflection that ties the entire project together.

Although these songs come from different periods of OVIEL’s journey, they share one thread: identity. Masterpiece shows how the heart of his artistry has remained consistent. The sound may have evolved, but the essence — emotion, storytelling, and soul — continues to shine through.

“Masterpiece isn’t just a collection of songs,” OVIEL says. “It’s a recognition of what it means to evolve — to embrace every version of yourself and realize that the real masterpiece is not the art itself, but the person who creates it.”

With this release, OVIEL doesn’t just revisit old music. He reignites it, giving listeners a clearer view of who he has always been and who he continues to become. What once were early sketches of an artist finding his voice now stand as timeless chapters of a story ever unfolding.

As Chocolate City marks its 20th anniversary, its frontline emcees Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince and Blaqbonez, have united on a powerful Hip Hop jam, dubbed, 'Legacy’. The song is a powerful tribute to the label, saluting its impact across the African music scene.

Produced by the acclaimed Davou brothers: Joel "Jace Kim" and Abraham "Gplus Chang", the song showcases each of the label’s rap luminaries in their outstanding Hip Hop braggado.

This rare collaboration, representing a convergence of Chocolate City's founding era and its present generation, points to the label's enduring influence which started circa 2005. Interestingly, after the label kickstarted operations Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince and MI Abaga were among the few Nigerians spotlighting Nigeria’s Hip Hop on a global scale, with their chart-topping releases.

Now, with a fresh crop of talent in its roster including Blaqbonez, Young Jonn, Tariq, the label is already shaping the evolution of Africa's next music wave.

"This collaboration captures the full spectrum of what we've built," Chocolate City Music CEO, Abuchi Peter Ugwu, explained. "From the pioneers who established the foundation to the artists currently dominating African hip-hop globally."

Further, ‘Legacy’ arrives on the heels of its founders’ birthdays Audu Maikori and Paul Okeugo, who shaped the music empire’s evolution across the African music business in the past two decades.

As the record label’s artistes soar on global stages, the label is also renowned locally for its impact across talent management and content creation for African musicians, positioning itself as a cultural institution and creative powerhouse.

"Legacy" is available across streaming platforms.

Starting off as a raw rapper influenced by Hip-Hop’s grit and lyrical tenacity, WAH33D’s musical journey has since evolved into something broader and bolder. His music now bridges the emotional depths of Trap/Emo-Rap, the pulsating rhythms of Afrobeats, the melody-rich textures of Afropop, and even sprinkles of Amapiano. Each track he releases feels like a new layer revealed—a new part of his identity shared.

For My OGs: More Than Just a Debut

WAH33D's debut EP, For My OGs, is not just a musical compilation—it's a journal entry from an artist who has lived through the struggle and emerged more self-aware, more intentional, and

more experimental than ever.

Originally not even meant to be an EP, For My OGs came to life during a time of self-reflection and financial difficulty. The delays in promotion and release only gave space for growth. Newer, sharper sounds began to replace older ones. And rather than let the perfectionist cycle continue,

WAH33D took a stand—he compiled the most authentic, experimental, and emotionally honest

songs into this six-track project. Each track reflects themes of: Self-confidence, Authenticity,

Love and Romance, Heartbreak, Musical Versatility.

This EP is for the day-one supporters—the friends, family, and fans who believed in him even

before the spotlight. It’s a tribute, but also a promise: that this is just the beginning.

WAH33D - For My OGs

A Project Making Waves

Despite being an independent release, For My OGs is already gaining momentum. The EP debuted at No. 75 on Apple Music's Top Albums (Worldwide) chart in Nigeria and quickly climbed to No. 10—a remarkable feat for a self-made artist with no major-label backing.

But it wasn’t an overnight success. Before hitting that No. 10 peak, the project faced slow traction, algorithm hurdles, and limited exposure. However, driven by loyal fans and organic buzz, it gradually rose through the ranks—a testament to the project's staying power and the artist’s undeniable authenticity. Even more impressive, the project is still actively charting, signaling growing listener support and repeat plays.

These are not just numbers—they're a reflection of real resonance. WAH33D’s message is hitting home.
