Khadijat's Death: Killer Of Ex-Ondo Deputy Gov’s Daughter Attacks Psychiatric Hospital Workers

A self-confessed killer of Khadijat Oluboyo, on Wednesday night attacked medical workers at the Ondo State Neuropsychiatric Specialist Hospital, Akure, the state capital.

Khadijat, daughter of the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Lasisi Oluboyo, was found dead in the room of her boyfriend, Seidu-Shakiru Adeyemi, last month.

Olawale was said to have been referred to the hospital for observation after reporting his involvement in the killing of the former deputy governor’s daughter to the police.

It was learnt the patient, who had been at the psychiatric hospital for two weeks, went berserk and attacked the medical workers who tried to administer some injections on him.

He reportedly injured about four nurses and beat the hospital’s Chief Medical Director (CMD), Akinwumi Akinloye.

Akinwumi, who fainted as a result of the attack, was said to have been revived at the State Specialist Hospital, Akure.

It was gathered that a consultant to the hospital, Sunday Sajo, was also injured while some facilities were destroyed in the attack.

Following the development, nurses and other medical workers at the psychiatric home on Thursday protested poor welfare of staff and lack of safety at the health facility.

The protesters vowed not to return to their posts until the state government addresses the issues of welfare and safety.

They accused Niran Ikuomola, Permanent Secretary of the Hospital Management Board, of insensitivity to their plight, saying his order that they should go back to their various offices would not resolve the crisis.
