Suspected notorious kidnapper arrested in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police has arrested a suspected notorious kidnapper, Emmanuel Abang, who has been on the wanted list of Akwa-Ibom Police Command.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Abdu Jinjiri, made this known in a statement in Dutse on Wednesday.

Jinjiri said the 35 year old was arrested in Hadejia Local Government Area of the state while trying to withdraw money from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).
He stated that the suspect had been loitering between Nguru in Yobe and Hadejia town since June 2017.

“Based on tip-off, Police in Jigawa State succeeded in arresting a suspected notorious kidnapper who has been on the wanted list of Akwa-Ibom Police Command.

“The suspect was arrested in Hadejia LGA, while trying to withdraw money from a bank,” he said.

Jinjiri said that Abang, who hailed from Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa-Ibom had been on the run since June 4, 2017.

The spokesman said that the suspect would be transferred to Akwa-Ibom State Police Command for necessary legal action.

According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Bala Zama, lauded the cooperation being offered to the Police by members of the public in the state.

Jinjiri said that the commissioner urged the public to maintain the tempo and continue to give the Police vital information as all information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
