My Plans To Revive Edo’s Disorganised Health Sector- Ize-Iyamu

Ahead of the September 28 rescheduled Edo State governorship election, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has assured that the health sector would also be major focus in his administration if elected.

The Governorship hopeful made this known while speaking at an interactive platform (Thinkers nest politico) by Independent Leadership Idea Exchange (ILIX) under the aegis of Benson Idahosa University.
The two-day political event had the PDP, Ize Iyamu present to answer the question “Why You” at the second day of the program.

Responding to the question from the host Bishop Feb Idahosa, on his health plan for the state, he said a comprehensive healthcare policy will be formulated and implemented to replace the current healthcare system of the state which according to him is in shambles.

He said that the comprehensive health plan would ensure that primary health centers across the state were duly rehabilitated so that they would be more accessible.

“As critical as health and education are, they have not been accorded any significant attention in the past seven years” he said
He alleged that the state has only two surgeons serving about 4 million persons in the state, adding that there are currently no pathologists, psychiatrists or dermatologists on the states payroll.

Ize Iyamu however promised that all existing primary health centers in the state will be duly equipped and adequately staffed with qualified personnel.

The PDP candidate added that present general hospitals all over the state will be given face lifts to meet the increasing health challenges faced by our people.

He further stated that his administration would encourage important stakeholders to provide free health programs and services.
The candidate also took time to respond to questions from the University’s management, as well as the students.

The International Leadership Idea Exchange (ILIX), ‘Thinkers’ Nest, is a platform created by the President, Bishop F.E.B Idahosa, to bring together thought leaders, industry experts, practitioners, researchers, and young innovators to dialogue and proffer solutions to global issues.
