tournament
– Nigeria’s Olympic Team lost the first match
of the tournament 1 – 0 to South Korea
The U-23 Dream Team were once again
embarrassing as they lost 6 – 2 to Denmark in the
ongoing 4-nation Sunwon invitational tournament.
The Nigerian dream team
Coach Samson Siasia made ten changes to the
team that lost 1 – 0 to South Korea early in the
week.
As early as in the 9th minute, Daniel saved Nicolai
Brock-Madsen’s penalty after Obanor had handled
the ball in the area.
Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi was a thorn in the
Danish defense as he dribbled almost the entire
defense and struck at goal but the defense make
a last minute clearance.
Erhun Obanor’s bad day at the office continued as
he scored an own goal in the 26th minute before
Emil Larsen scored to make it two against the
Dream team.
Larsen scored his second of the day in the 38th
minute to make it Nigeria 0 – 3 Denmark.
Coash Samson Siasia reacted to the score line by
bringing in Amuzie, Saviour, Abdulrahman for
Ndifreke , Dimgba , Oduwa.
Larsen got his hat-trick and his country’s fourth in
the 60th minute.
Patrick Da Silva made it five for Denmark on 62nd
minute 3as the Dream Team imploded despite a
clear miss from striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
Again, Nigeria made 3 changes as Tiongoli came in
for Emiloju, Yusuf in for Daniel and Ekpai in for
Awoniyi.
Despite the changes Emiliano Marcondes made it
goal no. 6 for Denmark.
Nigeria woke up from its nightmare as substitute
Abdulrahman scored in the 85th and 88th minute.
