Mrs Mimiko seeks official recognition for first ladies

WIFE of the Ondo State governor, Mrs
Oluwakemi Mimiko yesterday called for the
recognition of the office of the wives of the
President and governors in the country.

She spoke as a guest lecturer at Adekunle Ajasin
University, Akungba Akoko during the 4th
Research and Development lecture entitled:

“Women and Development.”
Mrs Mimiko said it “ is a wrong notion that the
offices of the wives of President and governors
should not be recognized.

“ While it is been argued that the offices of the
wives of the President and the governors should
not be recognized in the country, yet they still
receive piles of mails in their offices mainly
requesting for financial assistance.''

Mrs Mimiko said Nigerians should wake up from
the deceit and officially recognize the offices to
complement that of their husbands.
