witnessed a match fixing attempt during his
time as coach of Sienna but failed to report
– The prosecutor had recommended a six-
month suspended jail sentence and an €8,000
fine for the 46-year-old
– Judge Pierpaolo Beluzzi in a ruling today,
May 16, dismissed the charges against the
Conte
Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been
found not guilty to charges of sporting fraud
during his time as coach of Sienna in 2011-2011.
The incumbent Italy coach was acquitted, despite
the prosecutor recommending a six-month
suspended jail sentence and an €8,000 fine for
the 46-year-old.
However, Judge Pierpaolo Beluzzi in a ruling
today, May 16, dismissed the charges against the
Conte.
Conte was accused of failing to report an attempt
to fix a match against AlbinoLeffe when he was in
charge of Serie B side Siena in 2010-11.
He however denied any wrongdoing and the case
was fast-tracked to avoid the issue dragging into
the summer, when he will lead Italy at the
European Championship in France before joining
Chelsea.
