The recent political event in the country particularly in the south west has propelled me to write this position.
I have carefully studied contemporary political development and had to inquire about why the Lagos-Ogun axis takes a larger share of appointment and political patronage in the Southwest region.
I noticed that the Ondo extraction has been playing a second fiddle in the national politics. This is no thanks to our strong hearted, ambitious and do it alone syndrome of our leaders. There are too many qualified people in Lagos, therefore it may be difficult to consider an Ondo man who should negotiate on the basis of his state of origin than to align with a Lagos or Ogun for endorsement and nomination. When it gets to national politics, Lagos-Ogun political leaders close ranks to attract patronage.
In Ondo State specifically, the reverse is the case. Our leaders for the sake of personal benefits will begin to malign one another at the national level claiming to be independent political veterans.
The time is now for us to close ranks in Ondo state and begin to push each other up. Ekiti have learnt their lessons and they are getting a fair share in the political permutations, we must not refuse to learn our lessons. Individual ego is drawing us back. Our leaders must begin to close ranks than joining outsiders to fight themselves.
Aside Engr. Segun Oni and Hon. Bimbo Daramola there is no formidable gladiator in Ekiti APC that is not captured in the present political arrangement in Ekiti.
