AFCON 2019: Rohr advises South Africa on how to beat Libya after 1-1 draw with Nigeria

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has advised South Africa on how to defeat Libya following his side’s 1-1 draw with the Bafana Bafana in Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying fixture at the BFN Stadium in Johannesburg.

An own goal from South Africa defender, Buhle Mkhwanazi, and a strike from striker, Lebo Mothiba, ensured that Rohr’s men got a point against the hosts.

Commenting on South Africa’s final group game with Libya, Rohr said for South Africa to beat Libya they have to tackle the North Africans as they did against the Eagles.

Rohr told SuperSport: ”It will be a big battle, in Sfax we played a very good Libyan team. They saw already here that it is not easy to beat them.”

The German tactician, however, believes Stuart Baxter’s side will qualify for next year’s African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

”But I think that if South Africa played as they did today, with Percy Tau who is a wonderful player, they are going to beat them and even a draw will be enough.

”I think they will be with us at the next AFCON in Cameroon.”

Nigeria will face Seychelles in their final Group E game in March 2019, while Libya, who must win to qualify for the 2019 AFCON, will host South Africa in Sfax, Tunisia in their final game.
