Solidarity greetings from the apex body governing the affairs of students in Ondo state.It is so crucial to sieze this medium to appreciate those that has been supporting and opposing us since the inception of our administration. Your contributions has brought us this far. Our collective historical contribution will never be forgoten.
It is pertinent to publicly register our plea at this stage of our perpetual consultation with relevant stakeholders in the education sector of Ondo State.It is no news that the tertiary education subsector of the state has being in absolute paralysis for more than two months.
The repercussions associated with this ugly trend are not farfetched; the out-of-class students who were ordinarily supposed to be in school are roaming joblessly on the streets. The males engaging in social crimes of armed robbery through peer influence and the females involving in prostitution to make ends meet.
The inability of the state government to remunerate its workers for more than five months has further compounded the worrisome situation as it had been established that a vast majority of the residents and parents accros the state are on the payroll of the State government.
This quagmire has ripple effect that degenerates to affect the students in many negative ways.We hereby openly call on all the relevant stakeholders, the Ondo state government and the Authorities of the Tertiary Institutions that are currently under closure to as a matter of urgency reconvey, renegotiate and ensure the return of our students back to school.
However, we understand the national economic situation and the resulting consequence on the entire federating units. We implore the State Government to think out of the box and find other means to increase the Internally generated revenue so as to cater for the backlog of salaries owed the civil servants.
We must make it widely known that the leadership of NANS JCC, Ondo Axis believe immensely in productive dialogue and collaborative negotiations. Our gentility and modern approach should however not be misconstrued as timidity or weakness.
We have being exploiting the Consultative provisions of the 3Cs of student activism. We have also long initiated the process of immense Consolidation and we shall not hesitate to result into confrontation with whomever it is holding our futures to ransome.the closed institutions should be reopened as soon as possible.
