amplify the cause stating that the liberation of
women is the liberation of men
Veteran Nollywood actress Joke Silva has touched
on the recent issue of gender inequality in
Nigeria.
Nollywood legend Olu JacobFollowing the rejection of the gender and equal
opportunity bill by the Nigerian Senate on
Tuesday, March 15, there have been calls from
various notable women in society on a review of
the bill.
Former Nigerian minister Oby Ezekwsili has
spoken on the issue as she expressed her
disappointment via microblogging site Twitter on
March 15.
Senator Stella Oduah of the Anambra north
senatorial district has also stepped in as she called
for Nigerian women to accelerate gender parity in
the nation.
She made this clear on Tuesday, March 8 on the
international women’s day celebration.
Actress Uche Jombo also waded into the subject
as she slammed the Nigerian senate via her
Instagram account, asking them to embrace the
idea of basic rights and equal opportunities for
men and women.
Joke Silva is the most recent celebrity to speak on
the issue as she shared her message via her
Instagram account on Thursday, March 24.
The veteran actress and movie producer
explained that she believes in gender equality – a
situation wherein a man and a woman has equal
rights.
She wrote: “I believe we are equal and that every
human should have equal rights. I also believe
that every time we liberate a woman, we liberate
a man. The extension of equal rights is the basic
principle of progress.

seasoned actor Olu Jacobs and together they have
