The duo fired Kennedy Boboye’s men to victory against a stubborn away team as they maintain their lead over Wikki at the top of Nigeria Professional Football League
Tunde Adeniji helped to keep Sunshine Stars on course for Nigeria Professional Football League glory with the decisive goal in a battling 2-0 win over Bayelsa United on Sunday.
Heading into the match with a slender goal difference-point advantage over rivals Enyimba at the summit and buoyed by their 1-1 draw away to Lobi Stars, Sunshine endured a frustrating first half at Akure Township Stadium though were a goal up courtesy of Kingsley Eduwo’s early strike.
And Adeniji picked up where they left off at Aper Aku Stadium by firing his side ahead in the closing stages of the game for his eight goal of the season.
It was a goal that put more pressure on Bayelsa United, with Sunshine now in the driving seat as they lead Wikki Tourist with just a point.
But the anticipated dominant display did not follow as the Akure Gunners spurned numerous chances to add more with Adeniji the main culprit.
Sunshine lead the log with 33 points and will face a stern test on Wednesday when they face Enyimba at the Aba Township Stadium.
