Rapper Fred the Godson Dies Of Coronavirus At 35

Another star has been snuffed out by the novel coronavirus as rapper Fred the Godson is dead at the age of 35 from coronavirus.

Two weeks ago, the entertainer whose real name was Frederick Thomas was rushed to a New York hospital after he contracted the virus.

On April 6, he shared what would be the last picture of him. He was strapped to a ventilator in a hospital bed. On April 7, in what was to be his final Instagram post, on April 7, he asked fans to keep him in their prayers.

The Bronx rapper’s wife LeeAnn Jemmott, said on April 8 that a doctor said he wasn’t faring well.

“It was just like — he’s gone and he’s gonna die, that’s it. I don’t even know how I felt, I just felt like I was going to die,” she said.

However, she added that he had started to have some positive progress while in the hospital, with the ventilator supporting him 70 per cent rather than 100 per cent. 

His wife is yet to break her silence on her husband’s death.

His long-time collaborator Jaquae broke the news on Instagram as he shared his sadness after his friend’s death.

He wrote:

“Sleep in peace ,my brother… You’ll never be forgotten. I have so much things to say but I’m lost right now.”

His friend Fat Joe also paid tribute to his rapper pal with a message. He wrote:

“My little brother ooooh how sad I am, I prayed and prayed and prayed for you all night long.

“So many dreams so many conversations so many great times we had. I am in shock, to say the least I love you so much little brother it’s been years since I felt this pain.

I always wanted the best for you, I played you all my important songs to get your feedback I respect you so much as an artist.

“Why the good die young I was so proud of you little brother. Maybe now the world will pay attention to your greatness you was always my favourite.”

A rep also confirmed the news of his death to complex.

The rapper had two children.

Fred the Godson was a prominent rapper in New York for over a decade. He has previously collaborated with artists such as Diddy, Meek Mill and Pusha T. This year, he dropped both a solo project and a collaboration with Jay Pharoah.
