It's no more a shocking headline the manner in which the civil rights of a few students of OAU were recently encroached upon.
Five students are presently in detention for tabling a reasonable position against the forceful evacuation of students out of their various halls of residence.
The management of the school may mean good wanting to renovate the halls of residence which have been characterized by great structural decay.
But, where will the management keep the remaining students who are busy performing the compulsory academic responsibility such as Industrial Training, Teaching Practice, SIWES and the likes, was a fundamental question the Management of the school should have fatherly addressed to avoid any rancor whatsoever.
The NANS Coordinator in his first day of his 3 day vigorous intervention met with the representatives of OAU MANAGEMENT.
The Management stressed that the school did not take any legal action against the students; the police did.
The NANS Coordinator in his second day of his intervention met with few stakeholders of the school; warmly welcomed and received greater motivations and solidarity.
While today being the third day of the 3 day consultation, the NANS ZONE D (South West) Coordinator, Comrade Adekitan Lukman Adebisi (Tunice), this evening met with concerned OAU stakeholders, and few ideological organizations, purposely to fine tune possible remedies to the saga that currently bedevils the institution.
The saga as intensified as it has become need urgent address. It's based on this glaring veracity that the leadership of NANS Zone D South West had met with concerned OAU stakeholders and few ideological organizations to remedy the civil wrong posed on our fellow comrades.
Below are few of the resolutions of the meeting:
1. That this meeting be part of what should regarded as joint consultation, a tête a tête deliberation paving an avenue for meeting of the minds and unity of purpose.
2. That the NANS ZONE D Coordinator write concerned authorities, security agencies, judicial institutions, etc
3. That the writing should contain an ultimatum of two days demanding the unconditional release of our fellow comrades.
4. That the failure (on the part of authorities addressed in writing) to comply with the terms of ultimatum and humble demands, will amount to mass action.
The leadership of NANS in South West however uses this wonderful opportunity to persuade the student's community to remain law abiding and conscious; all available mechanisms in our possession will be utilized to facilitate their unconditional release.
