It is becoming quite disturbing to hear several cases of unlawful detention of random individuals by faceless groups for the sake of extorting ransom.
More annoying is the fact that most people who have hitherto gone about their daily businesses without suspicion, now live with the fear of the unknown.
The recent abduction of three people (in two different operations within two weeks) in the South Eastern part of the district, must not be taken lightly.
Sincerely, we can not put the blame on a particular sector of the society but I feel the youths have some waking ups to do. Some of these atrocities are perpetrated by us (the youths).
As much as I understand that the government is not doing enough for us in terms of job creation and or provision of enabling environment for self employment, I do not subscribe to making ends meet by taking unlawful advantage of others.
Having said that, I implore us to avoid non-honourable means of livelihood. Let us also endeavour to stay alert in vigilance. The security of lives and properties of our society is half dependent on we the youths.
Without mincing words, the security personnel are not living up to expectations. I hereby call on the concerned persons to take charge of their duties with dexterity.
Our parents should also buckle up. It is not right to leave parental responsibilities in the hands of children. Charity must begin from our homes.
To the traditional leaders, your roles so far have been good but we do not award trophies until the race is won. You (according to Yoruba myths) are second to God. We therefore plead for more coordinated supervision of your subjects.
Enough said! Stay safe!! Be your brother's keeper!!!
