UPDATED: COMMUNITY JUBILATE AS POLICE KILLS OWO DEADLY TERRORIST, GANI-ELESE

The people of Owo and its environs would now heave a sigh of relief  and have their two eyes closed as the leader of a dreaded gangsters simply known as Gani 'Elese' (not his real name) who used to be terrorizing the peace of the ancient town had been shot dead by the police in the area.

It was gathered that  Gani was killed in a gun duel with the police in his hide out at Jugbere Camp, a farm stead sharing boundary with the Ondo State Forest Reserved Area.

Before  being killed, he was said to claimed responsibility for series of murder incidents in the town and was also a member of unspecified   unnamed cult group in the area.

The Police Anti Robbery Team from 'A' Division in Owo with assistance from a vigilante group acted on a tip off quickly moved into action into the camp where he engaged the team in a shout out.

Smart360News gathered  that the people of the town went into jubilation when the information filtered into the town that Gani had been killed as the Ijebu- Owo Police Station was jam- packed with the people who gathered to catch a glimpse of the bullet ridden body as they unanimously appreciated the efforts of the police and vigilante group that brought an end to the activities of the person they described as a terrorist.

Reacting to the development, the Ondo State Police PRO, Mr Femi Joseph confirmed the incident and appreciated the public for providing information that led to the successful operation of the Police.
