As preparations continue for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, a group of students under the aegis of “PDP Students’ Campaign Team for ''Eyitayo Jegede” has called for a youth friendly deputy governor and demanded at least two commissioners below the age of 30 in Eyitayo's
administration when elected.
The call was made on Thursday at the inaugural meeting of the Campaign Team at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Speaking at the meeting, the National President of National Association of Ondo State Students (NAOSS) and Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Charles Iwakun, advocated that someone youth friendly persons should be considered as the next deputy governor of the state, stressing that, the position of at least two
Commissioner seat should also be reserved for youth under the age of thirty.
Iwakun noted that the entire students’ populace have endorsed the candidacy of the PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede and they are ready to come out en masse to show their supports for him in the coming election,
adding that youth participation in politics will give room to a more
productive government.
He described the PDP Students’ Campaign Team as an idea conceived by a team of students from all students’ structures ready to campaign and mobilize themselves for Eyitayo Jegede.
According to him, the team comprises of Student Presidents of Local Governments, NAOSS Presidents of chapters and Students Union Presidents that believe in the candidacy of Eyitayo Jegede.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Dayo Awude, who inaugurated the team, commended them for the
giant stride taken to endorse the party’s governorship candidate, he
expressed optimism that Eyitayo Jegede will emerge as the governor of the state in the coming poll.
“You are a major stakeholder, for you to have unanimously come from the 18 Local Governments of the state to endorse Eyitayo Jegede,
by God’s grace, with your eyes, you will see Eyitayo Jegede inaugurated as the Governor of Ondo state.” He added.
He enjoined the students to spread the message of Eyitayo Jegede, adding that he is a youth friendly person with clear vision and
objective to fulfill interest and aspirations of youths in the state.
