The remains of a 65-year-old woman, identified as Iya Majeobaje, was Saturday retrieved from the well of a mosque in Osere area of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
Iya Majeobaje, it was gathered, was in charge of the mosque’s sanitation. She reportedly fell into the well on Friday evening, while attempting to fetch water with which to clean the Mosque.
A resident, who had gone to the mosque Saturday morning to fetch water from the well, discovered the body and raised alarm.
They were said to have quickly alerted officers of Fire Service at Unity, Ilorin. Contacted, Director of the State Fire Service, Mr. Tiamiyu Raji, who confirmed the incident, said personnel from the Fire Service removed the body from the well on Saturday afternoon.
He also said that the corpse was taken to the ‘B’ Division of Police State Command, Surulere, in llorin metropolis.
