announced that the Chairman of the Police Service
Commission and former Inspector-General of Police,
Mike Okiro, will be handed a Special Achievement in
Football award in Kaduna on Friday.
The third edition of the annual Nigeria Pitch Awards
will hold in Kaduna on Friday, with red carpet starting
at 8pm — an hour after the end of the Nigeria/Egypt
2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
Also to be honoured, with the Sam Okwaraji Award,
is Super Eagles’ midfielder, Mikel Obi. The Chief
Operating Officer of Matchmakers Consult
International Limited, Nelson Olafisoye, told
thenff.com on Wednesday that the Chelsea of
England ace is the player with the highest number of
caps in the Super Eagles’ camp now, and therefore
deserved the honour.
“We found out that Mikel has the highest number of
caps in the camp presently. That itself is a great sign
of commitment that should be applauded.”
