year-old barber, Haruna Ibrahim, and a 38-year-old
primary school teacher, Danlami Lawal, over
allegations that they raped minors.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Zubairu
Abubakar, told journalists that the barber, who
resides in Dutse close in the Badarawa area of
Kaduna North Local Government Area, raped a 13-
year-old.
Abubakar said barber was arrested based on the
revelation of the girl. He said the girl had revealed
what happened between her and the barber out of
fear for the local vigilante group, which had been
invited before the police got involved.
“After interrogation, the suspect agreed to have had
carnal knowledge of the victim on two occasions,” the
police spokesman said. He also said he gave her
N50.”
Ibrahim said he regretted his action as the girl
involved is the same age as his granddaughter. He
blamed the devil for his action.
In Lawal’s case, the police spokesman said the
teacher, who is a graduate of Islamic and social study,
is a class teacher at UBE Buruku in Igabi Local
Government Area.
He said sometime last week, he invited the victim
who is also 13 years old to his office to collect biscuit.
Coincidentally, the school authority shares biscuit on
that fateful day.
The minor, the spokesman said, honoured the
invitation by her teacher with her sibling.
But the teacher was not comfortable with that
arrangement, so he told the victim to send her sister
away.
“Our investigation reveals that the school authority
on that day, gave out free biscuit to the pupils and
after sharing the biscuit to his class pupil, he asked
the victim to take the rest to his office.
“When the suspect returned to his office and he
found out that the sibling was with her, he asked her
to send them away, which she did, before giving her
more biscuit and asking her to come with him to the
school’s toilet.
“The suspect then asked the victim to remove her
hijab and out of fear, she started crying and saying
‘Teacher! Teacher!, this is not right’ and her shout
attracted her siblings who refused to go back as
directed by the suspect
“They also join her in shouting which attracted the
attention of Islamic students opposite the school,
they rushed to the scene and moved towards the
toilet and forced the door opened and met the
suspect with his trouser off and the victim shouting,
holding her hijab and school uniforms.
“The students from the Islamic school descended on
the teacher, bringing him out of the toilet half-naked
before handing him over to the police.”
The teacher told journalists that he didn’t penetrate
the victim even though he was in the process of
doing it.
