Enyimba FC of Aba, are on a mission to get a favourable
result in Egypt when they lock horns with Smouha SC.
The two-time African
champions Enyimba secured
a lone goal lead at home in
the first leg and will hope to
increase the lead away from
home. Former ABS FC and El-
Kanemi Warriors star
defender Idris Aloma has
stated in clear terms that
the People’s Elephant are going to Egypt for just one
mission and the target is to finish up the job they started in
Aba against Smouha SC.
The 2014 Federation Cup champions left Aba
yesterday morning for Lagos and are scheduled to leave
Nigeria for Egypt today for the CAF Champions League
second leg matchon Sunday.
“We are confident and determined to get the job done in
Egypt,”Aloma said.
“We know and feel the expectation from our fans, the only
joy that we desire is to compliment on what we’ve done at
home and get the needed result to see us through to the
next stage,”Aloma said confidently.
Enyimba have made eight appearances in the CAF
Champions League, they were champions in 2003 and
successfully defended the title in 2004. They have failed to
reach the group stage twice in 2002 and 2014 while the Aba
Giants got to the semi final stage in 2008 and 2011, in 2005
and 2006 Enyimba couldn’t make it out of the group.
The People’s Elephant of Aba will face Smouha SC on Sunday
April 5 as both teams eye a spot in the next stage of the
competition.
