Lionel Messi has revealed that he hasn’t spoken to
his idol and mentor, Diego Maradona since the 2010
World Cup when the Argentina national team
crashed out of the World Cup at the quarter finals
after being beaten by Germany.
The two men are considered to be all-time greats
and you could make a case for either one being the
very best of all time, but things didn't work out well
for both as they didn't perform to expectations at
the 2010 World Cup when Diego Maradona was the
Argentina football team head coach and Messi was
seen as the man to lead the team to World Cup
glory.
Speaking on Egyptian TV, Messi said:
“We haven’t spoken in a long time, since the
World Cup [2010] we may have crossed paths
once or twice. He has his life, his things and I
have mine. We haven’t spoken at all.
Considering that we don’t speak to each other,
I have a great relationship with him.”
